Nottingham Forest face another tough test this weekend as they travel to Old Trafford to face Erik Ten Hag’s Manchester United.

Steve Cooper’s men faced the Red Devils four times in league and cup competitions last season, losing all four encounters and failing to score a single goal.

The Reds will still be without Brazilian defender Felipe, as he’s still carrying a knee problem that has seen him miss both Premier League games so far this season.

Moussa Niakhate made his return as a substitute against Sheffield United last weekend, and could potentially come back into the starting eleven today – providing a boost for Cooper’s side.

Predictions from the pundits

Mark Lawrenson, Chris Sutton and Paul Merson have given their predictions for the clash between United and Forest at Old Trafford.

The pundits are all in agreement that it’ll be difficult for the Reds to come away with anything from the encounter, with the trio all predicting home wins for Ten Hag’s side.

Former Arsenal man Merson spoke in detail about the sides and whilst predicting Cooper’s side to taste defeat today, he expects his side to make it tough for a United side who haven’t had the greatest of starts to this campaign.

“It’s all right to play flair players like Mount and Fernandes in some games, but sometimes you need a player like McTominay.

“Man United are getting dominated in midfield, and they need to sort that out. Casemiro needs to get it together as well – when he doesn’t play at his best, they struggle.

“Manchester United aren’t playing very well at the moment, and I don’t think the manager knows what his best team is just yet.

“Nottingham Forest have pace on the counter and Man United are vulnerable at the back. In a difficult patch, however, you’d want a game against Forest at home, and I think United should be able to win this match.”

Prediction: Manchester United 3- 1 Nottingham Forest
