Nottingham Forest are set to haggle with Manchester United over the asking price for Dean Henderson. The Reds have got the goalkeeper earmarked as a top target this summer and they’re hoping to get the Red Devils star over the line.

According to The Athletic, United will ask for around £25 million. Forest aren’t keen to stump up that sort of money though and are hoping to negotiate a deal that includes plenty of add-ons, with a smaller fee to pay upfront.

Henderson spent the 2022/23 campaign on loan at the City Ground. He made 20 appearances and kept six clean sheets before a thigh injury sustained in January curtailed his season.

The 26-year-old is thought to be keen on a return to Forest. He really bought into the ethos of the football club and was often spotted in the stands cheering on his teammates even when he was injured.

United do want to get rid of Henderson during the transfer window. The £110,000-a-week star will be allowed to leave just as soon as David de Gea pens a new contract to remain at Old Trafford.

Henderson has one England cap to his name and he will hope for me. Moving to Forest should give him a platform to play every week and that could help him earn more international recognition.

Forest set to haggle with United to sign Henderson

Even at £25 million, Henderson would be a magnificent addition to the Forest ranks. He already knows the club inside and out, with the fans really raking to him.

Forest will have to be careful not to haggle with United too much. They don’t want the Red Devils to grow frustrated and walk away from any negotiations.

It’s not thought that the talks will commence until De Gea pens his new deal. However, a quick resolution will be sought from both ends once he has.

Henderson would represent a great start to the summer transfer window by Forest. It would see the club get sorted in a key position and it’s one that would please the fan base.
