Leicester City complete their eighth summer signing as Enzo Maresca’s rebuilding continues.
The Ghanaian international has been confirmed as the newest new addition at the King Power Stadium, according to the most recent Leicester City transfer news.
Leicester City have signed winger Abdul Fatawu from Sporting Lisbon as their ninth acquisition of the summer.
The highly-rated 19-year-old has agreed to a season-long loan from the Portuguese club, with City apparently having the option of making the transfer permanent next summer.
Fatawu becomes Enzo Maresca’s ninth summer signing, joining Harry Winks, Conor Coady, Callum Doyle, Mads Hermansen, Stephy Mavididi, Cesare Casadei, and Yunus Akgun. The move adds to the club’s diverse options.
So far this season, City have relied on academy graduates Wanya Marcal and Kasey McAteer for the right wing position, with new arrival Mavididi playing on the left. Marcal scored his first goal for the club in last week’s 2-1 win against Cardiff City, while McAteer did the same in Saturday’s 2-1 win over Rotherham United at the New York Stadium, scoring both goals.
Fatawu will now expand on those possibilities. Last season, he played for Sporting in both the Champions League and the Europa League, and he was also a member of Ghana’s World Cup squad in Qatar.
His transfer comes as City prepares for a busy few days as they try to complete business before the deadline, which is quickly approaching. Clubs have until 11 p.m. on Friday, September 1 to complete any transactions.
