Nottingham Forest transfer news: Reds will sign Arsenal player imminently – Romano

Nuno Tavares will soon join Nottingham Forest after the paperwork was signed late yesterday evening. The former Arsenal player will now join the Reds ahead of tomorrow’s Premier League matchup with Chelsea.

Fabrizio Romano claims that the Reds have successfully completed this transaction. He will first sign with the club on a loan that lasts through the end of the current campaign, and the deal has some intriguing extras.

The Reds reportedly paid a loan charge of £1 million, which seems pretty fair. Additionally, Forest will have the option to hire him permanently in a year for £12 million.

Romano also asserted that the option to buy might end up being required. That would depend on a number of conditions being met throughout his loan period.

Ismail Jakobs: "Continue to give the best of myself"

Tavares will be remembered negatively by Forest fans. After being harassed by Djed Spence for the first 20 minutes of Arsenal’s FA Cup match against Forest in the 2021–2022 season, he was replaced.

But he’s grown a lot since then. Despite only making 28 appearances for the Gunners, he scored six goals while on loan at Marseille last season.

Tavares appears to be a better choice than Ismail Jakobs, who was also mentioned in connection with Forest’s search for a left-back this summer. According to Squawka, the 23-year-old outperforms the Monaco star in terms of tackle wins, passes made, and blocked attempts.

Tavares will join with Forest soon.
The Reds appear to be getting a terrific deal here. Although Tavares’ humiliating substitution from back in 2022 may still be fresh in Forest fans’ minds, it is unfair to criticize him based solely on that one brief performance.

Last year, Tavares was among the top left wing-backs in Ligue 1. Marseille qualified for the Champions League after placing third in the premier division.

At 23, the youngster still has plenty of time to continue honing his craft, and Forest head coach Steve Cooper plans to put a lot of effort into helping Tavares.

This transaction does not appear to be Forest’s final one before the transfer deadline. Even if the club has other projects on the go, signing Tavares seems like a really smart move for the football team.
