‘About to fly’: £10m star has assurances from Marinakis before signing for Forest – journalist
Nottingham Forest signing Odysseas Vlachodimos has asked for some assurances from Evangelos Marinakis before signing for the Reds. The players has now boarded a flight from Lisbon and will undergo a medical with the club later today.
According to Ryan Taylor from The Express, Forest have got their man. The deal wasn’t an easy one, however, with the 29-year-old demanding assurances that he wouldn’t be sent straight to Olympiacos on loan.
Forest are getting themselves a quality goalkeeper. He’s spent several years with Benfica after signing from Panathinaikos and helped the Portuguese giants win two top-flight titles during his time with the club.
Vlachodimos will arrive at Forest in a deal worth around £10 million. The Reds have fancied another goalkeeper all summer, despite getting Matt Turner over the line from Arsenal.
Clearly, the 33-time Greece stopper is keen to make waves at Forest. He had no desire to head straight to Olympiacos and will hope to start competing for a place in the team quickly.
Forest signing Vlachodimos wanted assurances from Marinakis
This looks set to be a quality addition to the Forest ranks. Turner has started well at the City Ground but ultimately, the player needs some competition for his place.
Ethan Horvath could now head out on loan today. He will be very much considered a third-choice option and after breaking into the USA squad again he will want regular football.
Vlachodimos could take Forest by storm. His form at Benfica has been exceptional and will be interesting to see if he can become the number one at the City Ground.
