Wolverhampton Wanderers make a surprise Deadline Day announcement for a ‘new number nine’ – already decided
The latest Wolverhampton Wanderers Deadline Day news, as the Old Gold reveal a surprise new number nine.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have stated that striker Fabio Silva has switched from number 29 to number 9 at Molineux, ensuring that the Portuguese star will remain at the club.

The 21-year-old had been extensively connected with a move to Europe, whether temporary or permanent, but a string of starts has ensured his future.

Gary O’Neil’s side are still looking for an attacking addition, with talks ongoing for Che Adams and Boulaye Dia, but Silva will undoubtedly be part of Wanderers’ plans for the coming season.

Silva, who spent last season on loan at Anderlecht and PSV Eindhoven, has only scored five goals since signing from FC Porto for £34 million in 2020, but he hopes to redeem himself this season.

The striker has started all three of Wolves’ Premier League games this season and will compete for starts with Matheus Cunha, Sasa Kalajdzic, and a potential new acquisition.
