Everton ‘have third bid rejected for Wilfried Gnonto’
Everton have reportedly had a third bid for Wilfried Gnonto rejected by Leeds United.
Two bids north of £20m had been made earlier this month by the Premier League club, but Leeds rejected both.
Despite relegation to the Championship, Leeds remain adamant that Gnonto will not leave for less than £30m this summer.
According to BBC Sport’s Shamoon Hafez, Everton made a £25.7 million deal on Thursday night, which Leeds rejected.
Everton are said to be unwilling to go much higher for the Italy international and are set to move on to other targets.
Gnonto was kicked out of the Leeds squad earlier this season for attempting to push a transfer away from the club before submitting a formal transfer request.
However, Daniel Farke just reinstated the 19-year-old to the Leeds team, and he played the entire 90 minutes in both league and cup games this week.
Everton manager Sean Dyche has revealed that the club will need to sell players before bringing in any new players before the deadline.
Beto and Youssef Chermiti were signed this summer, but Everton’s financial constraints mean that additional investment in the squad is unlikely until money is recouped.
Alex Iwobi and Tom Cannon are on the verge of leaving Everton, with Fulham and Leicester City both close to completing deals for the pair.
Neal Maupay is also poised to join Brentford on loan before the transfer window closes, potentially freeing up space on Everton’s salary bill for future signings.
Kamaldeen Sulemana is the other name that has been linked to Everton for much of the summer.
However, the Southampton winger only joined the club in January for £22 million, so he is unlikely to be a cheap choice.
Sulemana, on the other hand, is expected to leave, having played no part in Russell Martin’s Southampton team so far this season.
Last season, the Ghana international appeared in 38 games for Rennes and Southampton, scoring three goals and assisting three more.
