Midfielder Etienne Camara made 22 appearances across all competitions for Huddersfield Town last season as the Terriers miraculously pulled off the great escape

What a difference a year makes. No longer now is midfielder Etienne Camara considered a B team player at Huddersfield Town.

The Frenchman burst on to the scene in the 2022/23 campaign. He got plenty of minutes under both Danny Schofield and Mark Fotheringham at the start of the campaign.

Camara produced a number of accomplished performances in the middle of the park and even triggered an appearance based contract extension back in November. His meteoric rise saw him linked with a number of clubs, including Leicester City. It looked like he had the world at his feet.

But the 20-year-old has struggled for game time this calendar year, featuring just five times in the Championship. He fell out of favour as Neil Warnock preferred the likes of Jonathan Hogg, David Kasumu, Jack Rudoni and Rarmani Edmonds-Green in the centre. His last Town outing came in their 4-0 home drubbing to Coventry City on March 4.

Despite finding first team football hard to come by at the John Smith’s Stadium, Camara is reportedly attracting interest once again ahead of the transfer window officially reopening next week. A report in The Mirror says Camara is being courted by several European clubs. Camara is said to be being tracked by clubs in France, Germany and Italy.

Belgian side Anderlecht and Italian outfit Udinese were both credited with an interest in Camara earlier this month. It has been claimed that Camara is not open to extending his Town stay. His present contract is due to run out next summer.

Camara made his debut for France’s Under-20s side at the end of May. He played 90 minutes as the French beat Honduras in the group stages of the World Cup.
