Demarai Gray gets an update this week amid the ongoing Everton transfer saga.
Demarai Gray’s health has been updated by Jamaica boss Heimir Hallgrimsson, but the Everton winger’s future remains uncertain.

Gray has yet to play for Everton this season and appears to be on the verge of joining Saudi Arabian club Al-Ettifaq [Asharq Al-Awsat].

Everton, on the other hand, are alleged to have notified Al-Ettifaq that they do not want to trade the 27-year-old [Ben Jacobs], prompting Gray to criticize manager Sean Dyche.

Gray will undertake a fitness test to evaluate his availability for Jamaica’s CONCACAF Nations League match against Honduras in the early hours of Saturday [9 September] amidst all the uncertainty surrounding his club future.

The Jamaica Gleaner [4 September] quotes Hallgrimsson as saying, “We will have to evaluate his fitness.”

“We will conduct some tests and individual sessions, as well as assess his fitness, before making a decision.”

“It is always important for players to play as many matches as they can at a high level.” He is working and training quite hard and is extremely driven.”

Unclear

Joining his national team might be considered as a welcome distraction for Gray, as well as an opportunity to demonstrate that he is fit enough to play.

At the same time, the transfer window for Saudi clubs closes on Thursday [7 September], and the winger would be wise to focus on his club’s future.

Gray’s current status with Everton is, to say the least, complicated.

According to CBS journalist Jacobs, Al-Ettifaq allegedly given Everton only 24 hours to determine whether or not to accept their offer for Gray, or else they will move on to other targets.

If the former Leicester City player stays at Goodison Park through this week, he will have a difficult chat with Dyche when he returns to Finch Farm.

Whatever happens in the coming days, Gray will have a chance to speak for his national team on the field if he is healthy and available.

In other Everton news, Dyche “will have a problem he has long dreamed of” when the Toffees return to the field.
