‘Great threat’: Jordan Pickford praises £26m Everton teammate after Sheffield United draw

Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has praised teammate Beto following his display in Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Sheffield United.

The £26m forward made his Premier League debut at Bramall Lane and showed why the Blues forked out for him.

Indeed, the Portugal forward offered a ‘great threat’ upfront for Sean Dyche’s side, providing Everton with a focal point that has been lacking from their attack.

It is a sentiment echoed by Pickford, who shared his thoughts on the Toffees’ new striker with the official Everton website.

Pickford said: “We’ve got some new signings, a few players coming back from injuries. The squad’s going to strengthen and we just need to go forward as a team and be hard to beat,” he said.

Beto gives 100 per cent. He’s a great threat in behind, holds the ball up well and the fans have loved him straight away.”

Performances by Pickford and Beto are reassuring to Everton fans for long season ahead

Everton took an early lead through Abdoulaye Doucoure on Saturday before two goals before half-time time saw the Blues go into the break a goal down.

Dutch international Arnaut Danjuma, who is on loan from Villarreal, made it two goals in two games in an Everton shirt, equalising early in the second half.

The introduction of Dwight McNeil late on for the Toffees was an enormous boost, with the 23-year-old missing the opening weeks of the season through injury.

However, Jordan Pickford was the hero of the afternoon pulling off an unbelievable triple save in the 98th minute, once again emphasizing his importance to this team.

Indeed, it was a well-earned point on the road from Sean Dyche’s side and new signing Beto put in an encouraging performance on his Premier League debut.

If Everton can create chances for him, he will no doubt put them in the net.
