Demarai Gray wants to leave Everton as soon as possible due to his “very bad” relationship with Sean Dyche, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The reliable transfer journalist says on his official Substack page (5 September) that the Toffees are in “advanced” talks with Saudi club Al-Ettifaq regarding a move for the Jamaica international.

However, after rejecting their latest bid, the player is upset and is pressing for the transfer to go through, despite the fact that his relationship with the management is now entirely ruined.

“From what I’m hearing, the conversation between Demarai Gray and Al Ettifaq is very advanced – he wants to go there, it’s a big offer, and it’s a big decision for him and his family,” he wrote.

“The conversation between Gray and Al Shabab was also very advanced, but it collapsed because the club’s board changed and they decided to go with Yannick Carrasco instead.”

“Everton is Gray’s problem.” They opted to reject the offers from Al Ettifaq in the last two or three days, and the player is furious.

“Let’s see how this story develops, but I’m sure Gray will continue to push for the move – his relationship with Sean Dyche is now at an all-time low, so I’m sure it’s time to go and try to persuade Everton to give the go-ahead.”

Allow him to leave.

Everton clearly lost Alex Iwobi on deadline day in a move they didn’t want to do, but the money was too tempting to pass up.

But it’s been evident since the beginning that Gray isn’t in the manager’s plans and that he wants to leave, so keeping him this long seems odd to begin with.

The club is in the same situation as they were with Iwobi in that Gray wants out and is in the final year of his contract, but no Premier League club is interested in signing him, thus the prospects of collecting as much money are limited.

However, Gray’s squad number has been taken away from him and given to a new signing, so the club would be better off cashing in and letting him go at this time. He’s not going to play again anyway, so it’s a win-win situation.

His Instagram remark implies that the connection between player and manager cannot be healed at this time, so it is best for everyone if he goes.
