Everton in advanced talks over Demarai Gray sale, deal ‘all done for him to quit Goodison Park – Fabrizio Romano
Demarai Gray expects to sign a four-year contract at Al-Ettifaq as he edges closer to leaving Everton on a permanent basis, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Writing via his personal Twitter account on Tuesday night (5 September), Romano reported that the Blues are in advanced talks over selling the 27-year-old winger.
The deal is said to be “all done” for Gray, but Everton and Saudi Arabian side Al-Ettifaq are still in talks and are getting closer to an agreement.
Goodbye, Mr.
Everton had little choice in the case, with Gray publicly criticizing Sean Dyche for not allowing him to leave Goodison Park.
Sure, the ex-Leicester winger didn’t get as much game time as he would have liked for Dyche in the second half of last season, and when he did, it was frequently in an odd center-forward role.
But to depart in this manner for a side headed by Steven Gerrard in Saudi Arabia is revolting.
Gray has been nothing spectacular for the Blues, so acting the way he has to be a part of the world’s largest sport-washing effort is embarrassing.
There’s no doubt about it: he’ll make a lot of money.
He can, however, now add Everton to the list of clubs where he will be entirely forgotten.
A perfectly decent career devolved into an absolute zero.
Demarai, best of luck in the Middle East. We’re confident you won’t last long there.
