MICHAEL OLISE SIGNS NEW PALACE CONTRACT IN BEAUTIFUL DEVELOPMENT TO END CHELSEA’S PURSUIT OF BEAUTIFUL U-TURN
Despite Chelsea triggering his £35 million release clause, Michael Olise has signed a new four-year contract with Crystal Palace. Chelsea’s continuous summer spending will come to a halt following the signings of Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia. Olise is now out of play after suffering an injury while on international service with the France under-21s.
Despite heavy interest from Chelsea, Michael Olise has signed a new four-year contract with Crystal Palace.
The Blues had activated Olise’s £35 million release clause, but in a stunning U-turn, the 21-year-old has committed his future to Palace until 2027.
Chairman Steve Parish stated on social media, “I’m absolutely delighted to announce Michael Olise has decided to commit his future to Crystal Palace football club and this afternoon signed a new four-year deal with the club.”
Olise had an outstanding 2022/23 season with the Eagles, appearing in 40 games across all competitions, scoring twice and registering 11 assists.
His magnificent free goal in a 1-1 draw with Manchester United earned him the Premier League Goal of the Month award for January, and he was named the Players’ Player of the Season by Palace.
The France under-21 international was anticipated to transfer across London to Stamford Bridge after the Blues secured agreements with Brighton and Southampton for Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, respectively.
