Brilliant 33-year-old set for Premier League move after Nottingham Forest exit
Sheffield United are planning a move to sign Andre Ayew after his exit from Nottingham Forest. The striker left the City Ground at the end of his short-term deal in the summer.
Now, according to TEAMtalk, the Blades are now eyeing a move to sign the out-of-contract performer. They’re near the foot of the table after picking up just one point from four matches.
Ayew was signed shortly after the January transfer window had closed to provide some short-term cover. The player had worked with Steve Cooper previously at Swansea and was viewed as a player he could trust.
The 33-year-old didn’t really get going at Forest. He was often used as a backup option for the Reds and failed to score in 13 outings in the Garibaldi, missing a penalty away at Tottenham in March.
Ayew has scored goals in the past for the other teams he’s played for. He’s turned out for Marseille, Swansea, West Ham, Al-Sadd and Fenerbahce during his career.
Cooper is a big fan of Ayew. He called him ‘brilliant in every way, shape and form’ during his time playing for Swansea and he was the captain of his team at the Liberty Stadium.
Ayew wanted by Sheffield United after exiting Forest
The experienced talisman will perhaps provide a short-term fix for the Blades. Paul Heckingbottom is hopefully trying to tap into the free transfer market before he has to register his 25-man squad.
Ayew might prove a pretty useful player in the short term for the Blades. His overall play at Forest wasn’t too bad but he just couldn’t get the ball into the back of the net.
Forest have moved on from Ayew this summer and now have much better options. Chris Wood is back from his injury, whilst Divock Origi has signed to provide competition for Taiwo Awoniyi.
Ayew could now sign for Sheffield United this summer. Ayew is still a free agent after leaving Forest and in the summer and he will surely relish the chance to play in the Premier League again.
