Goran Bunjevcevic, a former Tottenham Hotspur player, died at the age of 45, according to the club.
The ex-Yugoslavia international went into a coma in April after suffering a stroke.
He joined Spurs in 2001 and stayed for five years, but he only made 57 appearances in all competitions, with injuries limiting the ball-playing defender’s possibilities in north London.
Bunjevcevic left Tottenham in 2006 and briefly played for Den Haag in Holland before retiring and eventually becoming the sporting director of the Serbian Football Association.

Red Star Belgrade, another of his former clubs, also tweeted their condolences and a video of the player professing his passion for the club.

Bunjevcevic was a well-known figure in Serbian football, having captained Red Star Belgrade to the league title in 2000 and making 16 appearances for Yugoslavia.
Aleksandar Kolarov dedicated his World Cup 2018 goal against Costa Rica to Bunjevcevic.
“We dedicate this victory to our director, and we want him to know that we are all behind him,” Kolarov told reporters.
“He’s had some health issues.” We want to let him and his family know that we are completely behind him.”
