Everton transfer news as Andre Gomes Goodison Park exit set in stone amid Trabzonspor links

Everton midfielder Andre Gomes is understood to be on the verge of sealing his Goodison Park exit to join Trabzonspor, according to AS Marca.

The Turkish football news outlet that has amassed nearly 25k followers on Twitter and has been cited in the Liverpool Echo, reported on Monday (11 September) that the Portugal international appears set to leave.

Gomes was linked with the exit door this summer but did not end up leaving the Toffees.

AS Marca wrote on Twitter, “Trabzonspor is about to add central midfielder Andre Gomes, who plays for Everton, to its squad.”

Get good money

Gomes was never going to get first-team minutes at Goodison Park this season and it’s fair to say he’s not part of Sean Dyche’s plans.

There was a concerted effort to offload him in the summer but that seems to have failed and he’s still on the books.

The Turkish transfer window is open later than the other ones in Europe so there’s a chance for them to still sign players.

The 30-year-old may not aspire to return to the Portugal squad after making a handful of appearances, but would want to play regularly.

He spent last season out on loan at Lille where he did a decent job but it now remains to be seen how much he leaves for.

Hopefully, the Toffees are compensated well as he’s not understood to be on low wages at Goodison Park.
