The latest Aston Villa news as Unai Emery is expected to be backed in the summer transfer window as he continues to build his squad ahead of a season in the Europa Conference League
Aston Villa are one of the clubs showing an “interest” in Nottingham Forest winger Brennan Johnson ahead of the summer transfer window.
The 22-year-old was a key member of the Forest squad who won promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs just over a year ago. He adapted to life in the division well during the 2022/23 season, scoring eight goals and providing three assists in his 38 league appearances.
His performances helped Steve Cooper’s side to secure their place in the Premier League for another season. He did, however, find himself named on the bench for two of Forest’s last three games of the campaign.
It now seems that Villa are one of the clubs who could make an attempt to buy the winger in the summer. According to the Daily Mail there is “interest building” in the player with Villa named as one of the clubs who are eyeing a potential summer move.
Unai Emery is expected to be backed by the Villa Hierarchy in the summer window, with the club already confirming that an agreement has been reached with Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans over a free transfer move in the summer. Villa are expected to add to their squad further as they prepare for life in the Europa Conference League.
Johnson is able to play in a number of positions across the front line, including right wing and centre-forward as well as attacking midfield. Any potential move would see him provide competition to the likes of Bertrand Traore and Emiliano Buendia.
