Howard Kendall, a legendary former Everton manager, has died at the age of 69.
Howard Kendall, Everton’s most successful manager who guided the team to two league titles, died on Saturday at the age of 69.

“It is with great sadness that Everton Football Club has learned of the passing of Howard Kendall,” the club announced in a statement on their website.

“The most successful manager in the Club’s history, as well as one of the greatest Everton players.” He died this morning in a Southport hospital, surrounded by loved ones, at the age of 69.”

After being turned into a midfielder, he went on to win the top-flight First Division championship in 1970, before taking over as manager of Blackburn Rovers in 1979.
