Carlos is anticipated to miss most of the season, according to Villa, who revealed the seriousness of his injury in a statement on Monday. “Aston Villa can confirm Diego Carlos has ruptured his Achilles tendon,” the club said. The injury occurred during Saturday’s 2-1 victory against Everton. The athlete will undergo surgery before beginning his recovery regimen.”

The £26 million signing expressed his delight at making his home debut and winning his first game in a Villa jersey before delivering a more detailed statement on his recovery on his Instagram story. “An immense joy to debut with victory in our stadium, taking the three points,” he added. A fantastic stadium packed of supporters to cheer us on. You may be certain that  was the first of many victories.”

Carlos added, speaking about the difficulties he would encounter while recovering from his accident, “May the limit of my dreams be faith.” May willpower triumph over despondency.

“May the good in me triumph over the evil in those around me.” May happiness be my priority.

“I have plenty of reasons to be thankful.” And may I have the patience to await the wonderful things that God has in store for me.”

Depending on the degree of the injury, the former Sevilla defender is projected to be sidelined for at least six months. According to reports, Villa may look for a new center-back to replace Carlos, who will not be able to play again until 2023.

Villa manager Steven Gerrard told BirminghamLive after the win against Everton: “I’m extremely concerned about that situation.” We’re going to send him for an MRI scan, but it doesn’t look good right now, which may taint how I feel personally because I’m incredibly thrilled with the win and performance, but if we happen to lose someone who’s so important to us, it may taint the win.”
