Norwich City: Marcelino Nunez’s injury status
With an ankle injury, Marcelino Nunez has been ruled out of Norwich City’s forthcoming Championship tests.

The 23-year-old Chilean picked up the injury to his left ankle while on World Cup qualification duties and was seen on crutches. Nunez must now wear a protective boot, according to David Wagner, following fresh scans on his return to the Canaries after Saturday’s 1-0 league win against Stoke City.

Nunez will not require surgery, but he has just a limited chance of playing this season before the next international break in October.

“The injury is not as serious that he needs surgery, but it is more serious than we first thought, so he is now in a boot for the next 10 to 14 days,” City’s head coach explained. “Of course, we can predict something when we assess how well the swelling is decreasing.”

“There’s a chance he’ll make it before the international break.” But, if not, he’ll be back and ready to play for us after the next international break.”

Dimi Giannoulis was substituted in the second half against the Potters but is likely to be available for Leicester City’s midweek visit. Przemyslaw Placheta was deputized for his first competitive appearance in an unfamiliar defensive berth.

“It was anything but a surprise to me.” “In our opinion, he has everything it takes to be a very good full back,” Wagner added. “Obviously, he still needs to learn, but he can only learn when he plays.” And that is exactly what he did.

“If that makes sense, it was another step in his overall back development.” He possesses all of the necessary talents and mentality to be an appealing and competent candidate for this role.

“Dimi felt his quad a little bit, but I spoke with him after the game, and he doesn’t think that’s too serious.”

Aside from Giannoulis’ injury scare, Wagner’s sole annoyance was the way City failed to manage a tense last few minutes at Carrow Road as they attempted to defend a small lead thanks to Jack Stacey’s first-half strike.

“This was the only thing that bothered me,” the German stated. “Perhaps in the last five minutes or stoppage time, our game management allowed us to run down the clock when we went for the next goal.”

“We had a great first half.” Except for the final cutting edge, everything was present. We were in the correct places, we put in a lot of effort, and our counter-press was world-class. Then, in the last seconds of the half, we pushed to score a well-deserved goal.Norwich star Marcelino Nunez wanted by LaLiga giants Sevilla in shock transfer just months after arriving at Carrow Road | The Sun

“In terms of workload, the second half was a top shift.” I’m quite pleased of what they’ve accomplished there. We obviously did not play as well as we did in the first half. We didn’t take advantage of the few decent chances we had to end the game. If you don’t do this, you must fight until the very last second.
