Sky Sports issues an apology for ‘insensitive’ comments made during Aston Villa’s match against Everton.
The newest Aston Villa news comes as analysts were chastised for making ‘insensitive’ remarks during Villa’s 4-0 win against Everton.

Sky Sports has apologized for comments made during Aston Villa’s triumph over Everton by pundits Bill Leslie and Andy Hinchcliffe.

Everton players and staff wore black armbands in remembrance of Michael Jones, an Everton supporter who died last week while working on the construction of the club’s new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium. Sean Dyche, manager of Everton, was among those who wore the armband.

During the first half, commentators Leslie and Hinchcliffe quipped that Dyche “looked like a croupier” on the touchline as he wore the armband over a white shirt. Those remarks drew outrage on social media, with many calling them “tasteless.”

Sky has now issued a statement calling the comments “insensitive” and “regrettable.” Throughout the game, fans in attendance at Villa Park paid respect to the fans on television.

According to a Sky statement obtained by the Liverpool Echo, “comments made during the Aston Villa vs. Everton game were insensitive and regrettable.”

“We have spoken to everyone involved in the coverage, including both commentators, and reminded them of their responsibilities as well as the importance of caution and sensitivity.” We apologize for any offended or pain caused by these remarks.”

According to reports, the commentators privately expressed sorrow for their statements made during the game.

Villa won 4-0 versus Everton thanks to goals from John McGinn, Douglas Luiz, Leon Bailey, and Jhon Duran. It was Villa’s first three points of the season.
