Gustavo Hamer’s message to Coventry City supporters
Following his red card against Millwall last Saturday, the 25-year-old will serve a one-match suspension.
Gustavo Hamer, a Coventry City midfielder, has delivered a message to Sky Blues supporters following his red card in Saturday’s 3-2 loss to Millwall.
The 25-year-old received 15 yellow cards for Coventry last season and was admonished by Sky Blues coach Mark Robins after the game about his disciplinary record, as he risks a one-match ban.
Coventry led by two goals after 28 minutes but were levelled at 2-2 eight minutes after halftime. Hamer was subsequently awarded a red card in the 67th minute for a risky tactical challenge to thwart a Millwall counter-attack. George Saville scored the game-winning goal in the 85th minute against 10-man Coventry.
After the game, Hamer apologized on Instagram for his behavior and indicated that he will try to mend his ways.
“Having had time to reflect on the game yesterday, I would like to sincerely apologize to the fans, my teammates, and the coaching staff for my actions during the game. “As part of my game is to try and win possession for the team, there is always the risk of committing fouls, but I fully understand that my discipline record does not make good reading and I will continue to try and learn from my mistakes to help the team.”
Coventry’s next game will be against Hull City this weekend on Saturday, August 20 at the MKM Stadium.
