Matt Peet said Cade Cust and Liam Farrell are ‘ticking over’ as they continue their recovery from respective injuries.

Farrell left the field in Round 25 against St Helens with a knee injury whilst Cust was forced from the field in Wigan’s final round game against Catalans Dragons after picking up a knock on his elbow.

Updating on Cust, Peet said: “They’re both ticking over in the background. Cade’s injury, there’s no real structural damage so once he can execute without pain or managing the pain then he’s able to join back in but it’s hard to measure when that will be. It could be that this season is too soon for that.

“It’s touch and go, but it’s not an injury that has any long-term danger around it.”

On Liam Farrell, he added: “The same with Liam, a few weeks back he was told 8-10 weeks, he’s ticking all the boxes along the way but as the medics tell us he will miss the season and may have a chance for the World Cup.

“The Club, led by Ian [Lenegan] and Kris [Radlinski], invest a lot of money in making sure that no stone is left unturned. Both lads have had access to ice tanks and there’s all sorts of gadgets and gizmos here for training to keep them as fit as possible. If there’s an hour we can shave off their recovery or a percent that we can gain in strength when they come back then this Club is the place to be.”
