Jesse Lingard has left Nottingham Forest. Lingard’s tenure at the City Ground did not go well, as he only made 20 appearances across all categories, scoring two goals in the Carabao Cup.

Jesse Lingard, a former England international, will depart Nottingham Forest at the conclusion of his contract.

Lingard raised eyebrows when he joined Forest last season after their promotion to the Premier League, turning down a lucrative one-year deal from West Ham.

His stint at the City Ground, however, did not go well, as he only made 20 appearances across all competitions, scoring two goals in the Carabao Cup.

He appeared only four times in 2023, but he was a regular presence on the bench as Forest defied the odds to save their Premier League position.

The 30-year-old will now seek for his third club in three years, with rumors connecting him to a number of lucrative foreign leagues.

Andre Ayew, who signed a short-term deal in January, will join Jack Colback, Cafu, Lyle Taylor, and Jordan Smith in leaving the City Ground this summer.

Right-back Serge Aurier, who was instrumental in Forest’s survival, has exercised his one-year contract option and will remain for the 2023/24 season.

Loanees Dean Henderson, Keylor Navas, and Renan Lodi had their contracts expire, but Forest are said to be interested in permanent signings for Manchester United goalkeeper Henderson and Brazilian Lodi.

Forest are unlikely to duplicate last summer’s recruitment effort, in which they signed 22 players before the conclusion of the transfer window and increased to 30 by the end of January.

However, it is expected to be busy as manager Steve Cooper seeks a smaller number of quality arrivals and will be eager to trade many players as he reduces a bloated roster.
