Gareth Ainsworth reveals biggest QPR headache ahead of Coventry City clash

QPR boss Gareth Ainsworth has been discussing a big dilemma he is facing this week.

Despite being predicted to finish poorly, QPR have had a steady start to the season.

The R’s face Coventry City this weekend, and Gareth Ainsworth hsa revealed his biggest headache heading into the clash.

Jimmy Dunne, who has been injured since a preseason friendly, is now back in training and could be in the squad for the match against the Sky Blues.

Many predicted QPR would finish bottom of the league before the first ball was kicked this season, but it has been a more consistent start than perhaps some expected.

Don’t get us wrong: the club’s current position of 19th in the table is far from ideal, but the fact is that this makes things appear worse than they are, with the R’s also only two points outside the top half of the table.

In recent weeks, draws against Birmingham and Swansea were good results, while a win away at struggling Middlesbrough earlier this month was a huge result.

The R’s face Coventry City at Loftus Road on Saturday, and the Sky Blues have not won in their past five games.

Naturally, QPR manager Gareth Ainsworth has been speaking to the media ahead of the Sky Blues meeting.

Ainsworth gave a quick fitness report on his squad during that news conference, saying that his main concern at the club today is team selection, despite the fact that several players have returned from injury.

“It’s been great to have a full week’s training heading into another big week for us against Coventry, Leeds and Blackburn.” Ainsworth told the press through QPR.

“My biggest headache right now is team selection,” the QPR manager stated.

How long has Jimmy Dunne been out of commission?
Jimmy Dunne, sadly for QPR and Gareth Ainsworth, is yet to appear for the club this season due to injury.

That injury occurred during a dreadful pre-season friendly defeat at the hands of Oxford United a week before the start of the Championship.

Dunne dislocated his shoulder during that match.

However, it looks that the R’s central defender has resumed training and might be included in the team for Saturday’s encounter against Coventry.

He is unlikely to start, and will most likely only be called upon if required.

According to West London Sport, Dunne might play for QPR’s development side against Millwall on Tuesday.

How significant is Jimmy Dunne’s return to QPR?

Having a guy like Jimmy Dunne back in the squad is a huge help for QPR and Gareth Ainsworth.

The 25-year-old has been a total staple in the side for the previous two seasons, so his absence must have been difficult for both him and the club.

Having said that, the arrival of Steve Cook and Morgan Fox this summer relieves Dunne of some of his responsibilities.
