Unai Emery provides double Aston Villa injury update after Brighton thrashing
Unai Emery has provided an update on Moussa Diaby and Boubacar Kamara, who were substituted due to injury concerns during Arsenal’s 6-1 hammering of Brighton & Hove Albion.
After playing a major role in the historic triumph, it was unfortunate to see Diaby and Kamara go down with injuries, potentially putting a damper on an otherwise flawless afternoon.
In the post-match press conference, Emery remarked, “I think he [Diaby] has some pain, but I don’t think it’s going to be relevant for the next matches.”
“Kamara, too.” Hopefully not serious [serious]. “We’re hoping, but we’ll have to check,” Emery added.
Villa will be keen for both players to recover fast, given the squad’s depth has been pushed to the limit in recent weeks by the forever-growing fixture congestion.
Emiliano Buendia and Tyrone Mings are both out for the season with serious knee problems, while Alex Moreno is close to a return but not quite up to fitness.
Diego Carlos is still getting up to speed despite being on the bench against Brighton, whereas Timothy Iroegbunam has only just returned to full training.

Latest Aston Villa news from BirminghamLive as Michael Beale sacked by Rangers
Rangers have fired former Aston Villa assistant manager Michael Beale.
The 43-year-old worked as Steven Gerrard’s assistant coach at Villa Park for about seven months. He then joined QPR at the end of the 2021/22 season.
Beale departed the Championship club after five months in command to rejoin his former team Rangers. His return, however, has not gone as planned.
Following a rough start to the season, the Gers are in third position, seven points behind champions Celtic. Beale’s final game in command was a 3-1 loss against Aberdeen on Saturday.
