Players who might depart

A few peripheral alternatives, such as Paddy Dow and Zac Fisher, appear likely to seek better opportunities elsewhere. Dow is anticipated to join Stephen Silvagni’s St Kilda, while Fisher has been linked to North Melbourne on a four-year deal with a fifth-year option for $450,000 per year. Otherwise, with men like Jack Silvagni and Tom De Koning tied up, the Blues should be relatively quiet.

players who might arrive

Elijah Hollands, a former Gold Coast Pick 7 who is a high-upside candidate, is likely to be selected despite Michael Voss’ team’s low cap space. Gold Coast is reportedly eager to transfer Hollands south, where he could rejoin with brother Ollie, despite the fact that Hollands has only appeared in 13 AFL games since being selected in the 2020 draft.

The cost is a challenge, though, as Hollands hasn’t really demonstrated enough to merit Carlton’s first pick (16), but their second pick is 65, so perhaps a future second does the trick? The experienced Bulldogs defender Hayden Crozier, who is out of favor and may become a delisted free agency after 142 games, is also of interest to the Blues. While Essendon is now seen to be the overwhelming favourite, the Blues have shown some interest in Melbourne’s James Harmes. The Blues have previously been linked to Saints free agent Jade Gresham.

Who has already left?

Sam Philp, Josh Honey, Lochie O’Brien, Ed Curnow, and Lachie Plowman have all retired. Josh Honey and Sam Philp have also been delisted.
