Three players tipped to leave as Wolves weigh up transfer options

Transfer news from Wolverhampton Wanderers as the club plans for the new season and Ruben Neves, Daniel Podence, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Jose Sa are linked with moves away

Daniel Podence, Jose Sa and Rayan Ait-Nouri are among the players Wolves are prepared to move on this summer as they look to raise funds for squad strengthening, according to a report.

Wolves need to sell before they can buy if they are to balance the books and meet Financial Fair Play restrictions. Even the sale of captain Ruben Neves at Wolves asking price of around £45m wouldn’t be enough and so the club are looking at other players who could be moved on as Julen Lopetegui reshapes his squad for the 2023/24 season.

The Telegraph’s John Percy reports that ‘Neves is available for £45m, while the likes of Podence, Jose Sa and Rayan Ait-Nouri will also be free to go.”

Versatile forward Podence, aged 27, signed from Olympiakos in 2020 for £16.9m and has two years left on his contract. But revitalising the forward line, particularly in wide areas, could be a priority for the club as Wolves were the lowest scorers in the Premier League last season with just 31 goals.Wolves 4 Watford 0 - Player ratings | Shropshire Star

Left back Ait-Nouri was a £9.5m signing from French club Angers in the summer of 2021, agreeing a five year deal with the option for a sixth. Angers hold a 50 per cent sell on clause in the 22 year old but Wolves do have plenty of options at left back with Ryan Giles, Jonny and Hugo Bueno competing for places while centre half Toti was deployed there by Lopetegui in the latter stages of the season.

Keeper Sa, aged 30, has clocked up 73 Premier League starts since his £6.25m move from Olympiakos in the summer of 2021 on a five-year deal. But if he were to move on, Wolves would need to sign a replacement to compete with Dan Bentley.

Current third choice keeper Matija Sarkic could be moving on this summer with Stoke City likely to be interested after the 25-year-old’s loan in the Potteries last season.
