Oakland Raiders offensive tackle Donald Penn left Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys with what his team announced as a foot injury.
In his 11th NFL season, the former undrafted free agent has never missed a game. He entered 2017 having played in 160 consecutive games after first appearing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2007.
For nearly all of that time, Penn has been a steadying force from the left tackle spot. He started 156 of those 160 games and made two Pro Bowls, including the 2016 season. The Raiders made their first playoff appearance in more than a decade last season with Penn protecting Derek Carr’s blind side.
A knee injury held Penn out of that contest.
He’s been healthy for the 2017 campaign, but the Raiders may need to rely on David Sharpe in his place given this setback.
