Three depart Hawks as Irishman flies the nest

Hawthorn has made three further changes to its list ahead of the 2024 season

Emerson Jeka, a key position player, was one of three players delisted by Hawthorn on Tuesday.

Standing at 198cm, Jeka’s dismissal comes as a surprise considering the club’s lack of significant alternatives following Jacob Koschitzke’s transfer request to Richmond last week.

Injury-plagued Josh Morris and Fionn O’Hara, both from Ireland, have also been informed that their contracts will not be extended for 2024.

Jeka was selected with the ninth overall pick in the 2019 rookie draft and has appeared in just seven games for the Brown and Gold over the last two seasons.Season Snapshot: Jacob Koschitzke

Morris made 15 appearances over four seasons after being drafted at No.57 in 2019.

O’Hara joined as a Category B rookie with the Hawks towards the end of 2021 but was unable to make an AFL debut. He's in! Jeka's purple patch has been rewarded

Mark McKenzie, Hawthorn’s recruiting and list manager, commended the three for their services.

“All three have been great teammates and showed a high level of professionalism during their time in the brown and gold,” the coach stated.

Max Lynch discontinued his career earlier this season after doctors advised him to do so due to recurrent concussions.
