Paul Momirovski: Leeds Rhinos sign Sydney Roosters centre for 2024

Leeds Rhinos have signed centre Paul Momirovski from Australian giants Sydney Roosters on a two-year deal for the 2024 Super League season.

The 27-year-old was signed as a junior from South Sydney and came through the Roosters ranks where he made his debut in 2018 and had two spells.

Momirovski then joined Wests Tigers, and then won the National Rugby League Grand Final at Penrith in 2021.

“I thought it would be a great fit for me,” Momirovski said.

“I still feel like I have got a lot to learn and working with the coaches and players at Leeds will benefit me. I have had the privilege of playing in some great teams in the NRL and I believe in always looking for ways to grow.”

Sydney-born Momirovski has scored 26 tries in 60 first-grade games in the NRL.

Wigan Warriors beat London Roosters to reach Wheelchair Super League Grand Final

Wigan Warriors will face Leeds in the Wheelchair Super League Grand Final after a 43-34 win over London Roosters.

Thirteen tries were scored in an entertaining semi-final at the University of East London.

Three of Warriors’ seven came from Jack Heggie, while Declan Roberts added two with Wigan’s other tries coming from Phil Roberts and Adam Rigby.

Roberts played a major role in his team’s win, with six conversions, one penalty and a drop goal.

For the Roosters, Scott Trigg-Turner and Joe Coyd both scored two tries, with Jason Owen and Lewis King also crossing.

Wigan led 12-0 following early tries by Heggie and Roberts, but the London side hit back to level.

King got them off the mark after being cleverly set up by Coyd, who was also involved in the build-up to Trigg-Turner getting the Roosters’ second try.

After Roberts’ try and conversion restored Wigan’s lead, Coyd also scored and then converted to make it 18-18.

But after Heggie found a gap to score a second try, the Warriors led for the rest of the game.

They will take on Leeds Rhinos – who beat Halifax Panthers in the other semi-final last weekend – at the National Basketball Performance Centre in Manchester next Sunday, 15 October.
