‘I’m very happy’: 22-year-old who lost his way under Lopetegui admits he’s loving life under O’Neil
Wolves defender Rayan Ait-Nouri has admitted he is loving life at Molineux under Gary O’Neil.
The Algeria international has been reflecting on the opening weeks of the season in which he has been pretty heavily involved.
Ait-Nouri has started all but one of Wolves’ eight Premier League games so far.
And he has also featured in the two Carabao Cup games, too.
It’s been a great turnaround for Ait-Nouri, who lost his way a bit under Julen Lopetegui.
He missed a string of matchday squads at the end of last season and some wondered if he might actually leave the club in the summer, amid interest from Nice.
To his credit, Ait-Nouri was worked hard and got back into the team – and he says he’s really enjoying himself under O’Neil…

Ait-Nouri is now the main choice to play on the left for Wolves.
He is currently keeping Hugo Bueno out of the side and also Toti Gomes, who is an option to play at left-back.
Speaking on Wolves Weekly, a delighted Ait-Nouri said: “We have a good team. The atmosphere is very good. We need to continue.
“I’m very happy. The gaffer gives me this confidence. I want to do my best. I need to continue and improve. I’m very happy now, I have this confidence.”
Ait-Nouri admits he prefers to attack rather than defend.
But he accepts that he needs to improve his defending.
Ait-Nouri has been impressive for Wolves this season
Credit must go to Ait-Nouri for the way he’s started the new season.
He really did lose his way under Lopetegui, and some fans were worried he would leave.
But he’s found a new lease of life under O’Neil, who seems to really rate the youngster.
He’s been heavily involved so far, and hopefully he can continue on the trajectory he currently is.
