Latest Aston Villa news from BirminghamLive as the Nottingham Forest academy graduate continues to attract interest

Aston Villa would reportedly have to offer “way beyond £40million” to sign Nottingham Forest winger Brennan Johnson.

Villa emerged as a potential destination for the 22-year-old, who has impressed in his first season in the Premier League. Johnson was also a key member of Forest’s promotion campaign just over a year ago.

He carried that form to the English top flight, scoring eight goals and providing three assists in 38 games under Steve Cooper. There is “interest building” for the winger, and Villa are said to be one of the clubs who are eying a potential summer move.

Another interested club, Brentford, have recently seen a £30m bid turned down for the Reds’ academy graduate. Johnson, who has three years left on his current deal, is unlikely to leave Forest for a “fee of anywhere near £30m,” reports The Sun.

The report states that clubs will have to “offer way beyond £40m” before Forest would even consider parting ways with their player. This is backed up by Sky Sports, who go even further and claim it could take a bid of “at least £50m”.

Villa are expected to continue being active in the transfer market after securing the signing of Youri Tielemans on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract at Leicester City.
