Nottingham Forest gem Dale Taylor got on the field on Friday night as Northern Ireland lost 1-0 to Denmark. The game proved dramatic but the Reds forward did something that showcased his confidence and undoubted quality.
Taylor has waited patiently for another run out for the Green and Whites. He made his debut back in December 2021, coming on for 12 minutes of a 1-0 win over Lithuania and on Friday he played for 13 minutes against the Danes.
The 19-year-old is tipped by many to star on the international stage in years to come. Against Denmark, he did something that showed exactly why he’s tipped for stardom and left an experienced player looking stupid.
Taylor roared into the action and tried to get Northern Ireland on the front foot. He was actually on the pitch when they thought they’d scrambled a late equaliser but VAR determined otherwise.
Forest man Taylor produced an unbelievable moment of magic. He did a naughty pirouette to ease beyond the experienced Simon Kjaer and left the fans purring over what they had just seen.
Taylor spent the second half of last season at Burton Albion on loan from Forest. He enjoyed a quality spell with the Brewers and bagged five goals and an assist from 20 appearances.
Forest gem Taylor showcases quality with amazing piece of skill
This was quite remarkable. Many youngsters making their second appearance for their country would be inclined to keep things simple and not draw too much attention to themselves.
Not Taylor, though. He showcased his determined persona and had fans buzzing at what the future might hold for such a talented player.
His piece of skill, of course, was only one moment of magic. It’s not completely what Taylor is all about but for Forest fans it’s nice to know that he is capable of producing that kind of magic.
It will be interesting to see what happens with Taylor next season. Much like last season, it would be no surprise to see him gain some experience with Forest in pre-season and then head out on loan once again.
Regardless, it looks as though Forest have got a star on their hands. Taylor is not short of confidence and it looks as though he will definitely make an impact at the City Ground at some point during his career.
