Fabrizio Romano reports there is confidence at Tottenham Hotspur that David Raya will walk through the doors at Hotspur Way this summer.
It was reported by multiple sources last week that while Spurs have struck an agreement with Raya on personal terms, the club are unwilling to meet Brentford’s asking price of £40m for their number one (The Times).
However, Football Insider revealed on Saturday that Tottenham’s pursuit of the Spaniard could be hijacked by Manchester United.
The publication asserted that the Brentford star has many admirers among the United recruitment team and is viewed as the perfect profile for Erik Ten Hag, given his ability to play out from the back under pressure.
Romano provides David Raya update for Spurs fans
Romano has now assuaged Spurs fans’ fears by insisting that the Lilywhites are confident they will get the Raya deal over the line since all parties want the move to go through.
When asked about Tottenham’s pursuit of the Spaniard, the journalist told GiveMeSport: “For David Raya, they are confident.
“I think when all parties want the same, Brentford have already signed a new goalkeeper, the player wants to go, he’s not extending the contract and Tottenham want him.
“When they all want the same, I think there is a good chance to make the deal happen.”
Spurs Web Opinion
One gets the feeling that Raya is one of many goalkeepers on Man Utd’s wishlist while Tottenham have made him their number-one target to replace Hugo Lloris.
Hopefully, that would help persuade the 27-year-old that he would be better off moving to the North London club.
