3 Things That Really Happened in the Buffalo Sabers’ Loss to the Flyers Last night’s loss to the Philadelphia Flyers was a tough pill to swallow for Buffalo Sabers fans.
But there were still some good results, despite the scoreline.
Losing 5-1 is never fun, and the Buffalo Sabers looked outmatched from start to finish despite playing in Goathead sweaters in front of a packed crowd.
Considering how the Sabers played at home and the fact that so many fans paid to watch their team in person, they deserved to be booed off the field after this miserable outing.
Even so, there are still some good things to come out of this long night.
The two players extended their respective point streaks, the shortstop unit flipped once again and the Sabers also held a huge advantage in one particular category.

What happened in the Buffalo Sabers’ loss to the Flyers? Point streak: JJ Peterka and Casey Mittelstadt assisted on Henri Jokiharju’s goal, extending their point streak to four and three games, respectively.
Both have scored four points in their respective periods and appear to be on track to record career highs.
Peterka has six points in 11 games, reaching 45 points in 82 games, while Mittelstadt could score between 74 and 75 points at the rate he’s playing.
The Sabers could have room for another big contract extension among the skaters, and as things stand, Mittelstadt is the favorite to get it.

Buffalo has faced 42 power plays in 11 games this season but has allowed only four of them.
And when you do the math, they are light years ahead of the rest of the league.
On average, the remaining 31 teams conceded seven power play goals and their short-term success rate was only 79.

3: Head-to-Head Battle The Buffalo Sabers did much better last night, winning 21 to 35.
Kyle Okposo, Peyton Krebs, Brandon Biro, Dylan Cozens, Casey Mittelstadt and Tage Thompson all participated and each won at least 50 % of their battles.
Biro was impressive, winning 66% of his own, while Cozens achieved the same figure.
Tage and Mittelstadt, both of whom have struggled historically, won with 62 and 53 percent, respectively.
