Carter Smith, a four-star quarterback from Fort Myers, Fla., wants to play college ball up north.

Smith, ranked as the No. 24 quarterback in the 2025 recruiting class, has committed to the Michigan Wolverines.

Smith announced his commitment on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter:

He also gave 247Sports the reasoning behind his commitment.

“The coaching staff and the people in the football building sold it,” Smith explained. “The academics and the environment at the game were definitely a big bonus.”

It should be noted that Smith is a high school junior, so there is still time in his recruiting process. Things can change on the recruiting trail, as they often do. With that said, he does appear to be sold on the Wolverines.

“I think I’ll be able to really develop as a quarterback there,” Smith continued. “Quality of people there; everyone was very down to earth and very welcoming.”
