It was the kind of game Oilers management has been looking for from Holloway since he arrived in pro hockey. Holloway, who seemed to have a difficult time earning the trust of coach Jay Woodcroft, had the kind of game a young player needs to gain traction and become an integral part of the top three lines.
Holloway was lined up with center Ryan McLeod and winger Warren Foegele under new coach Kris Knoblauch. Since Holloway’s return, the line had played together for a while, and Knoblauch’s adjustment—putting the more energetic Foegele in for the seasoned two-way forward Derek Ryan—suggested that he saw what Holloway could accomplish with McLeod in a five-on-five situation.
