According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, Washington Commanders cornerback Emmanuel Forbes has been penalized more than $15,000 by the NFL for a hit on Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Tyler Lockett that led to his team’s loss in Week 10.
The play in question took place with Seattle facing a second-and-four situation early in the first quarter. Geno Smith, the Seahawks’ signal-caller, scurried to his left and hit Lockett cross-body. Lockett lost the ball and was struck hard in the head by Forbes as he was crossing the center of the field.

Forbes was by no means the only one who disapproved of the referees’ ultimate ruling. Defense coordinator Jack Del Rio and head coach Ron Rivera also expressed their displeasure at Forbes’ dismissal, with the latter calling it a “troubling” decision for the league.
According to Commander Country’s David Harrison, Del Rio stated, “The penalty I understood was deserving of a penalty.” “That was a startling expulsion for a first-time offense on play six, or whatever it was, in the game. It’s also concerning that someone sitting in an air-conditioned room in New York removed him rather than the referees on the field. That worries me about the league.
