Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Harvey Barnes is ‘open’ to making a switch from Leicester City to Unai Emery’s Aston Villa this summer.
The Leicester City flyer was relegated to the Championship this season, but it hasn’t stopped a number of Premier League clubs, including Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham and Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, expressing interest in the 25-year-old.
But on Monday (19/06/23), The Birmingham Mail report that Harvey Barnes is ‘open’ to joining Aston Villa, with his future at the King Power Stadium in doubt and the valuation on his head standing at ‘£40 million’.
Barnes should get his move, there’s no way his parent club keep him on in the Championship, it’s just a case of where will he end up.
It wouldn’t be a surprise if this possible saga drags on until late on in the window, and whilst Villa will be boosted by the thought that he wants to join them, are they happy to put £40 million on the table for his talents?
Not only will the Midlands outfit perhaps question that price-tag, but so will Spurs, it was recently suggested that they put in a bid of £50 million for BOTH James Maddison and Barnes.
Barnes is a goalscorer
Even though the Foxes dropped down to England’s second-tier in an embarrassing fashion, someone like Barnes enjoyed a career-best goalscoring run, with Gabby Agbonlahor labelling him a ‘top player’.
Coming in from the left flank, he scored 13 goals from 34 Premier League games and proved that if you feed him off the shoulder, then he can cause many, many issues.
Barnes isn’t someone who is going to connect play or ping passes around, but he can get into double figures with his goals, which is very valuable, especially if you have got a main number nine doing the business.
