Baltimore Orioles’ Brandon Hyde crowned AL Manager of the Year
NEW DELHI: Brandon Hyde has been named the American League Manager of the Year, receiving the honor after guiding the Baltimore Orioles to an impressive 101 victories in the 2023 season. This achievement comes just two years after the Orioles endured a challenging season with 110 losses.
Under Hyde’s leadership, Baltimore underwent a successful rebuild, significantly improving to an 83-79 record in 2022.
While Hyde finished second in the Manager of the Year voting that year, the Orioles were well-prepared to take the next step in the 2023 season, thanks to a talented core of young players. Orioles infielder Gunnar Henderson was also recognized as the unanimous AL Rookie of the Year on Monday night.
Hyde secured 27 out of 30 first-place votes for the AL Manager of the Year, with Bruce Bochy of the Texas Rangers, the World Series champions, receiving the remaining three votes. Kevin Cash of the Tampa Bay Rays, a two-time winner, finished third in the voting.
