MLB rumors: Why Cubs could be dark horse trade suitor for Blue Jays’ Bo Bichette

Blue Jas SS Bo Bichette rumors linking him to the Cubs are gaining steam, but that remains just trade noise for now.

Given the current situation, Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette will not be a free agent until 2026; however, there are rumors that he may be playing for a different team by the time the 2024 MLB season begins. Might it be the Cubs of Chicago?

 

“I’ve heard that the Cubs and Blue Jays have discussed Bo Bichette, who could play third base for the Cubs. Yesterday, @KFidds made tOf course, the Cubs already have Dansby Swanson as a shortstop. There’s an opening at third base, but they do have a Gold Glove winner in Nico Hoerner at second base. Additionally, Bo Bichette will enter free agency in two years. And the Cubs have an incredible depth of prospects from which to trade, so if they can’t find a way to bring back Cody Bellinger, this is a very logical move if you want to persuade Shohei Ohtani and other future free agents that this is the best place to play and win a championship. You intend to strengthen this lineup. Additionally, they must decidehe first hint about this, and last year, @jonmorosi brought up the Cubs’ interest in Bichette. Bichette’s contract expires in 2025 and comes with a high return.

Speaking of Jon Morosi of the MLB Network, he thinks the Cubs have the necessary resources and the proper drive to sign Bichette.
