Darren Ambrose says it’s ‘good news’ for Tottenham Hotspur that Daniel Levy isn’t willing to sell his star striker Harry Kane to a Premier League rival.

The former Crystal Palace midfielder, who is a boyhood Tottenham fan, added that, whatever happens with Harry Kane this summer, he thinks it will ‘benefit’ the club.

The reason being, either someone puts ‘£120 million+’ on the table for Daniel Levy to accept or he stays on board and tries to help his new manager Ange Postecoglou settle into life in the crazy world of the Premier League, as he told talkSPORT.

It seems as though Levy, who has done things his way and his way only during his tenure as Spurs chairman, is willing to risk losing Kane for free in 12 months.

The 29-year-old can sign a pre-contract agreement with another European club next January or sign for whoever he wishes in the summer of 2024.

If the latter happens, and he ends up at another Premier League club, then it’s not going to look well on Levy’s financial books, but he’s willing to go down that road to the delight of Spurs-mad pundit Ambrose.

“On Harry Kane, I was speaking to somebody closely linked with the situation a couple of weeks ago and they were adamant that Daniel Levy wouldn’t sell Harry Kane to a Premier League rival,” said talkSPORT transfer reporter Alex Crook.

“It seems as though Manchester United have taken a hint and they are now looking elsewhere, in terms of a number nine this summer. There was talk of Real Madrid, but I don’t think they are going to pay £100 million. I think they want Mbappe as the long-term successor for Karim Benzema. Good news?”

Ambrose responded: “Yes, good news for Spurs supporters. It’s good news for myself. Whatever happens with Harry Kane will benefit Tottenham. We know that because it’s what Daniel Levy does. He does things to try and benefit Tottenham, in terms of financially.

“If someone came in for the right amount, then I think Harry Kane would be given the opportunity to leave. The right amount being £120m plus, with one year left, that’s a lot of money. But if that’s the valuation Spurs are putting on him, then so be it. Somebody has to come and pay it because he is a world-class player.”

Kane chasing Alan Shearer’s Premier League record

The England captain could go abroad because there are suitors, such as Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, for his goalscoring talents.

But there are some suggestions within the media that Kane wants to stay in the Premier League, so he can break Alan Shearer’s 260-goal record, it was something backed up by his former teammate, Andros Townsend.

Kane himself, after scoring an incredible 30 Premier League goals this term, is on 213 in England’s top-flight and, in a few more seasons, he should have that record, that’s if he decides to stay put in England.
