Jalen Milroe is calling for the Heisman Trophy after propelling Alabama to a nail-biting 27-24 Iron Bowl victory over Auburn on Saturday.
The Crimson Tide quarterback launched a Hail Mary touchdown on fourth-and-goal from the Auburn 31-yard line to defeat the Tigers with under a minute left to play.
Milroe connected with receiver Isaiah Bond in the corner of the end zone, a play that instantly goes down as one of the most memorable plays in Iron Bowl history.
After securing the victory, Milroe rab onto the field, screaming with excitement and giving an NSFW message.
Let’s f–king go,” he repeatedly screamed, followed by “Give me the Heisman. Give me that motherf–ker.”
Milroe has led the Crimson Tide to an 11-1 season (8-0 in conference play) and his growth this season, taking over the starting role after playing eight games in 2022, is reason to celebrate and be a top contender for the trophy. However, he might not want to get his Heisman hopes up too much.
According to FanDuel, Milroe’s odds are at +15000 right now, giving him fifth place overall.
Those ahead of him include Oregon quarterback Bo Nix (-130), LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels (+110), Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. (+1500) and Georgia quarterback Carson Beck (+10000).
Still, Milroe could be invited to New York as a finalist, and more so if Alabama can bring down undefeated Georgia (12-0) on Saturday in the SEC title game. The victory would likely move him past Beck in the Heisman running.
This season, Milroe has completed 66.4 percent of his passes, going 158-for-238 with 2,536 yards, 21 touchdowns and six interceptions.
