Tommy DeVito had already given the Commander-in-Chief and the Patriots a loss in the two weeks before he beat them on the field.
After going undrafted, DeVito turned down a contract with his managers and turned down “significantly more guaranteed money” to sign with the Giants, according to NFL Network.
“DeVito has decided to play for the Giants in order to play in Jersey and under Brian Daboll’s coaching staff,” NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported Sunday morning.
And the Patriots tried to poach DeVito after the Giants released him before signing him to their practice squad, but DeVito remained with his hometown team.

It’s safe to say DeVito’s decision was the best for the former Don Bosco quarterback.

Howell has thrown every pass for the manager this season.

The Patriots, meanwhile, have their quarterback issues and finally appear set to bench Mac Jones leading into a game instead of during the contest.

It appears Bailey Zappe will start this Sunday against the Chargers.

DeVito could have been in the mix to start had he signed with the Patriots, but it’s surely more meaningful for him to start for the franchise in his backyard

Since his fateful debut, in which the Giants essentially didn’t allow him to throw against the Jets, DeVito has played relatively well as a backup quarterback.

He completed 18-of-26 passes for 246 yards and three touchdowns to beat Howell and the Commanders, 31-19, on the road in Week 11.

Last week, DeVito did just enough to beat the Patriots, 10-7. He completed 17-of-25 passes for 191 yards and one touchdown in the home victory.
