A 2025 wide receiver from Sachse named Kaliq Lockett has received an offer from OU football as well as the Sooners’ coaching staff.
A couple outstanding receivers from Oklahoma have already committed for the 2025 class. The Sooners are formally pursuing another, though.
Following a social media post about an offer from the program, Kaliq Lockett was admitted to OU’s board. The Sooners’ staff has been keeping a close eye on this potential, and rightfully so.
As per the 247Sports Composite Player Rankings, which are produced by the industry, Lockett is ranked 93rd overall in the 2025 class by recruiters. In addition, the four-star prospect is ranked as the nation’s No. 11 receiver and among the top-15 players in Texas (No. 14).
Regarding the 247Sports Network’s particular rankings, however, our group of national specialists has a far better opinion on Lockett’s capabilities. There, he ranks as the ’25 cycle’s No. 12 overall prospect. Lockett is ranked as a top-15 player nationally by 247Sports, which also ranks him as a top-3 wide receiver nationwide and a top-3 prospect in the Lone Star State, putting him well within future five-star area. Thanks to network national scouting analyst Gabe Brooks, here is the 247Sports scouting report on Lockett:
Tall, long-armed, physically gifted high-major receiver prospect with endless long-term potential and tremendous on-field context. has gigantic hands and a wingspan of six feet seven inches. strong-handed and agile. demonstrates timing, vertical bounce, and sophisticated body control. More than able to move past several defenders
Emmett Jones, the wide receiver coach for the Sooners, is well-known in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. He’s known and kept up with Lockett for a considerable amount of time as a result. It was more of a question of “when” than “if,” but now that it’s resolved, Jones and the staff at OU must go forward. There won’t be a shortage of suitors for Lockett, but as his process progresses, anticipate the Sooners to take center stage.
