Over the last few days, several teams around the country have begun extending verbal offers to transfers. West Virginia has sent out a handful themselves, including one to defensive back Devynn Cromwell of Guelph, a Canadian school who plays in the (OUA) division of the League in Canada.

In nine games this season, Cromwell totaled 21 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, seven pass breakups, two interceptions, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.

Cromwell told Mountaineers Now that he plans on making the trip to Morgantown next weekend for an official visit. He also holds offers from Arkansas State, Eastern Michigan, Southern Miss, and Texas Tech.

“I like the program and what they’ve told me so far, so I’m super excited to get to know the coaches more, meet the staff, and see what they are about down there. Also, it is close to home, which is nice.”

Cromwell was expecting the offer to come but had to wait for his transcripts to go through to make it official. This weekend, he will be in Lubbock for a visit to Texas Tech.

With Beanie Bishop and Malachi Ruffin set to graduate, West Virginia will need to add multiple pieces to the back end of the defense.
