Former Notre Dame Fighting Irish wide receiver Chris Tyree has found his landing spot in the transfer portal and it happens to be in his home state.

When Chris Tyree left the Notre Dame football program, it was a bit of a shock to the Fighting Irish football. There was quite a bit of confusion about why one of the team’s leading receivers would leave.

It turns out that maybe it wasn’t about the Chansi Stuckey firing or retaining Gerad Parker. Maybe it was really just about Tyree wanting to go back to his home state.

Wanting to go home certainly appears to be the reason why Tyree left after he announced earlier this week that he committed to the Virginia Cavaliers.

It’s certainly an interesting move considering the state the Cavs are in these days. They’re hardly a very good football team. Maybe he thinks he can help them turn back into a competitive team.

Or he thinks there’s a chance for them to be competitive while he gets to play closer to home.

Whatever the rationale, Chris Tyree is now officially gone. Though it turns out he’ll be going up against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish next November 16.

The Notre Dame soccer team won its Final Four contest against Oregon State, 1-0 on Friday night. They will now play one of their newest close rivals in the Clemson Tigers. The two teams will face off against one another for the National Title on Monday night.
