Texas Longhorns Coach Steve Sarkisian Provides an injury update on WR Xavier Worthy
ARLINGTON — Texas Longhorns receiver Xavier Worthy suffered an ankle injury in the fourth quarter of Saturday’s 49-21 win over the Oklahoma State Cowboys in the Big 12 Championship.
Texas coach Steve Sarkisian provided an update on his star receiver after the game during ABC’s post-game interview on the field.
“He’s OK. X-rays are negative, so he’ll be OK,” Sarkisian told ABC.
Worthy, who has yet to miss a game this season despite dealing with minor ailments over the past few weeks, had to be helped back to the locker room with his arm around two Texas athletic trainers. He was later seen on the sidelines using crutches with a boot on his left ankle. He finished the game with six catches for 86 yards.
Regardless of whether Texas’ next game is a bowl game or a College Football Playoff Semifinal, Worthy will have tons of time to get healthy as the Longhorns prepare to close out their 2023 season.
