Tennessee has lost yet another defensive back to the transfer portal. Former Georgia Tech transfer DB and former Volunteers starting safety Wesley Walker had news break early on Friday that he would be entering the transfer portal.

Walker is a 6’1, 200-pound safety from around the Ensworth High School area in Nashville, Tennessee. He started at safety alongside long-term starter Jaylen McCollough. McCollough is out of eligibility, and Walker is now in the transfer portal, meaning the Volunteers will now have to attempt to replace both of their starting safeties. Although that may not seem like an issue, the Vols have had many transfers in the DB room hit the portal.

Walker, Tamarion McDonaldDoneiko SlaughterDe’Shawn RuckerJack LuttrellBrandon Turnage, and Warren Burrell are the defensive backs who have entered their names into the portal so far. In return, they have picked up two transfers in the defensive back room, including Jakobe Thomas from Middle Tennessee State University and freshman All-American Jermod McCoy from Oregon State. The Vols also added multiple defensive backs in the 2024 class who have already signed, including Kaleb BeasleyMarcus Goree Jr.Boo Carter, and Edrees Farooq.
